Hollowed Oath devs say character creation and quest systems are now in testing

Hollowed Oath, the upcoming MMO from the team behind the former EverQuest Heroes Journey rogue server, got another development update this week. According to the official post, the April 17 build overhauled character creation, brought the game’s quest infrastructure online, and added two production-state player models for testing and promotional use.

The team also said it cut its packaging pipeline time in half, which should help speed up internal builds and testing. That follows an April 10 update where the developers said they were getting close to showing the game’s first gameplay video once player models are finished and through QA.

If you’ve been trying to keep up with Hollowed Oath, the pace has picked up lately. The studio has been posting near-weekly test updates, and this latest one looks like a more meaningful backend step than a flashy reveal. Character creation and quest support are foundational systems, so getting both into a testable state is a notable milestone even if players still haven’t seen full gameplay yet.

For now, there’s still no date on that first gameplay video, just the earlier note that it’s tied to the completion and QA pass for player models. So the short version is: core systems are still coming together, the visual side is moving forward, and the team says it’s getting closer to showing the game in action.
