Former New World Devs Start Steel Strix Studio, Working on Co-Op Action Game

A small group of former Amazon Games developers has formed Steel Strix Studio and is now working on its first original game. The team previously worked together on New World, including the recent Nighthaven expansion.

The studio says the new project is not an MMO. Instead, it’s being described as a co-op action combat game with “innovative multiplayer mechanics” and a story from Chris Avellone, whose past credits include Knights of the Old Republic II, Fallout: New Vegas, and Planescape: Torment.

Steel Strix says the game is still early in development, but closed playtesting is expected to begin soon. For now, there’s no title, release window, platform list, or pricing information.

The studio is taking newsletter signups through its site for players who want updates or potential playtest news.
