Final Fantasy XIV shows Patch 7.5 trailer and a closer look at Beastmaster ahead of April 28

Square Enix used the latest Live Letter to show more of Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.5, which is set to launch on April 28. The stream included a new trailer for the update, along with a longer gameplay preview of Beastmaster and a quick look at some of the patch’s other incoming content.

The biggest gameplay reveal was Beastmaster. From what was shown, players will build around a trio of captured beasts and assign them to one of three battlehorns, changing available tricks and some core Beastmaster abilities in the process. The job also appears to lean heavily on chaining actions together, with combo abilities triggered by using the Beastmaster’s own skills alongside beast abilities in close sequence.

Patch 7.5 will also add the third part of the Vana’diel alliance raid series, which got a brief showing during the presentation. The source material doesn’t go much deeper than that, but the new trailer gives a broader look at what’s coming with the patch.

According to Nova Crystallis’ post, the Live Letter focused on both the patch’s gameplay and that Beastmaster preview. If you’ve been waiting to see how the job actually works in motion, this was the clearest look so far.

Patch 7.5 arrives just as FFXIV heads into fan festival season, so there will probably be plenty more discussion around the update over the next couple of weeks. For now, the main takeaway is simple: the trailer is out, Beastmaster got a real gameplay breakdown, and the patch is locked in for April 28.
