Final Fantasy XIV Adds a Typing Event With Final Fantasy VII Remake Rewards on October 28

Final Fantasy XIV is adding a new Gold Saucer event called Keybound Brawler on October 28, 2026, and its first run is a Final Fantasy VII Remake collaboration. The event starts at 1:00 a.m. PDT and will remain available until the release of Patch 8.0, according to the official event page.

Keybound Brawler is exactly what it sounds like: a typing challenge. Players earn MGC by clearing collaboration stages, then trade that event currency for rewards. Square Enix notes that a keyboard is required, so gamepads and on-screen keyboards won’t work for this one.

The reward lineup includes several Final Fantasy VII Remake-themed items, with gear based on Avalanche members, a Magitek Scorpion mount, a Wind-up Barret minion, an emote, orchestrion rolls, and a framer’s kit. There’s also a Keybound Coffer listed at 910 MGC.

  • Avalanche Brawler and Avalanche Leader outfit pieces
  • Magitek Scorpion Identification Key mount
  • Wind-up Barret minion
  • Ballroom Etiquette – Intrepid Inputs emote
  • Welcome to the Gold Saucer, Let the Battles Begin!, and Fight On! orchestrion rolls
  • Keybound Brawler Framer’s Kit

To take part, players need a character at level 15 who has completed the Gold Saucer unlock quest, It Could Happen to You. That quest requires finishing one of the early main scenario quests tied to the three starting city-states: The Gridanian Envoy, The Ul’dahn Envoy, or The Lominsan Envoy.

After that, players can pick up the limited-time level 15 quest Keyward Bound, play Keybound Brawler in the Manderville Gold Saucer, and spend MGC at the event trader. Square Enix says MGC can only be earned and exchanged during the event period. Once this collaboration ends, Keybound Brawler will return as a special event at irregular intervals.
