Final Fantasy XI’s free trial no longer has a time limit
Square Enix has removed the 14-day limit from the Final Fantasy XI free trial, letting players stick around without the trial expiring. The change was confirmed in a PlayOnline topics post dated September 30, 2026.
The free trial’s level cap has also been raised from 50 to 75. That opens up more of Vana’diel to trial players, though the account is still capped at that level rather than moving into the game’s later progression.
Players who made a free trial account in the past can use it again, even if the old trial period already ran out. So if you bounced off because the clock expired, that restriction is gone now.
The update follows Square Enix’s earlier September preview, where the company said the level cap increase and time-limit removal were planned for late September. The free trial download is available through the official post.
