Fallout 76’s Raven Rock Expansion Is Planned for 2027 as Fallout Day Broadcast Skips 2026

Bethesda Game Studios has outlined a wider Fallout roadmap, and the big item for Fallout 76 players is Raven Rock, a major expansion planned for 2027. Bethesda describes it as a prequel story to Fallout 3, shifting the live game’s focus toward the Capital Wasteland era instead of only building around Appalachia and its surrounding regions.

Fallout 76 has been expanding steadily since launch, with Bethesda now counting close to 70 free updates for the online RPG. Its most recent push took players into Ohio with Burning Springs, while Raven Rock sounds like a more direct bridge to one of the series’ best-known settings.

The roadmap also points to a busy few years for Fallout as a whole. Bethesda says remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development, though neither has a date. Obsidian Entertainment is also attached to a new Fallout project, separate from the remaster talk. Fallout 5 is listed as being in preproduction on Creation Engine 3, but The Elder Scrolls VI is still taking most of Bethesda Game Studios’ attention for now.

Outside of games, the Fallout TV series is moving ahead with Season 3, and Bethesda also mentioned an unscripted Fallout Shelter project with Amazon Studios and Kilter Films. Fallout Shelter itself is set to keep getting new seasons.

One thing fans apparently won’t get this year is the usual Fallout Day broadcast. Bethesda is skipping the 2026 show and instead planning a live celebration in Washington, D.C. in 2027 for the franchise’s 30th anniversary. Given the city’s connection to Fallout 3, and Raven Rock landing the same year, the timing seems very intentional.

The roadmap lands during a tense stretch for Microsoft and ZeniMax, following major layoffs across Xbox’s gaming business. That makes the scale of Bethesda’s Fallout plans worth watching, especially with multiple remasters, a new Obsidian project, Fallout 76 content, Fallout 5, and The Elder Scrolls VI all now somewhere on the board.
