Fallout 76 Adds Infestations Open-World Events on June 2

Fallout 76 is getting a new open-world activity called Infestations on June 2, giving teams another reason to roam Appalachia and pick fights with something much bigger than the usual patrol. The event is built around groups tracking down outbreaks across the main regions of the map, then jumping in quickly with other players once one is found.

According to Bethesda’s developer deep dive, Infestations can throw several enemy types at players, including Blood Eagles, robots, Ghouls, cultists, and more. Each event centers on a boss backed by a pile of minions, so it sounds less like a casual public event and more like something meant for geared players who can coordinate.

Bethesda is pitching the mode as a tougher team activity, and the reward track reflects that. Players can earn up to four-star legendary weapons from Infestations, assuming they survive the fight. The team also showed gameplay from the mode and noted that even the developers have been knocked down by it a few times.

Infestations were previously tested on Fallout 76’s public test servers, but this week’s update brings them to everyone. The same June 2 rollout also includes the next season of battle pass-style content and the previously previewed Deathclaw pet for player camps.
