EverQuest Legends Sets October Zone Update and Mid-December Rulers of Kunark Expansion

EverQuest Legends has a busy few months ahead, with executive producer Dave “Sysyphus” Youssefi outlining the game’s next zone update, its first Kunark expansion, and early plans for 2027.

The next major stop is October, when Nektropos Castle and Lake Nerius are scheduled to arrive. That update will also add a new starting zone and a new playable race, along with seasonal items and events tied to the new areas.

Nektropos is being framed as more than just a haunted-looking castle. From the outside, it’s a castle near a trade hub, but the team is teasing secrets inside and possibly below it. Lake Nerius is launching alongside it, though the producer’s letter didn’t go deep on what players should expect there.

After that, Rulers of Kunark is planned for mid-December. EverQuest Legends takes place in a different timeline than the original EverQuest, so this version of Kunark won’t simply mirror the classic setup. Instead of ruins left behind by a fallen empire, the expansion will show Kunark’s factions fighting at the height of their power.

  • Rulers of Kunark is planned for mid-December.
  • The expansion adds Reincarnation, a system for re-leveling characters to unlock new abilities and higher stat caps.
  • The level cap will increase to 55.
  • Aliases, Collections, Artes, and Auction Houses are also planned.

Looking further out, the team is already planning more Kunark content for 2027, including additional zones, another playable race, and two more raid zones. Rujarkian Hills, a high-level outdoor zone, has been pushed back so the team can add more content to Nektropos first.

A Velious-based expansion is also planned for later in 2027. Beyond that, the studio says it wants to revisit “forgotten places and lost secrets,” though it hasn’t shared specifics yet.
