EverQuest Legends details multiclassing and loadouts in new dev video, CBT Begins April 24
Game Jawn has shared a closer look at how multiclassing works in EverQuest Legends, the upcoming pre-Kunark server project for EverQuest. The new video focuses on the basics rather than class balance, but it does clear up how players pick classes, how experience is handled, and what happens when they swap builds. EverQuest Legends is heading into closed beta on April 24, and this one comes with a strict NDA.
Multiclassing is one of the big features that sets Legends apart from a standard progression server. Players start by choosing two classes at character creation: one tied to their race, and a second picked freely from the pool of 16 classes, excluding the one already chosen. A third class opens up at level 10, again from the full class list.
Up to level 10, players earn XP for all 16 classes at the same time. After that, only the classes currently equipped keep gaining XP. The video also says players will be able to earn gameplay tokens later on that let them use a race-locked primary class, with similar tokens available for race unlocks and deity choices.
The other major piece here is loadouts. Players can save combinations of race, classes, gear, and UI setup, with options to share gear and UI between different loadouts if they want. There is a catch, though: when a loadout is changed or edited, the character’s level drops to match the lowest level among the selected classes.
This latest video is part of a weekly developer series covering EverQuest Legends systems ahead of launch. The team says more detailed breakdowns on class mechanics and balance are still coming.
