EverQuest Legends adds Nektropos Castle, Half Dark Elves, and a Halloween event

EverQuest Legends has opened Nektropos Castle with a new update released on October 22, 2026. The patch adds Lake Nerius as an outdoor zone, Nektropos Castle as an endgame dungeon, a hidden starter area beneath the castle, and the Ayr’Haeth, a new playable Half Dark Elf race.

This is the first in a planned run of major updates built around classic EverQuest lore. For EverQuest II players, Nektropos Castle should sound familiar. Legends is setting its version much earlier, around the moment the Everling family’s story begins to fall apart.

  • Lake Nerius is the new approach zone leading toward the castle.
  • Nektropos Castle is an endgame dungeon with more than 20 named enemies.
  • The Nektropos Undercroft is a hidden starting area below the castle.
  • The Ayr’Haeth can be unlocked through a new quest that begins in Lake Nerius.

Getting into the castle isn’t automatic. Players start the access chain in Lake Nerius with Retainer Ozval, who manages the castle’s affairs. That questline eventually sends players to the Plane of Hate before opening the way forward. Once inside, the main quest runs through the castle and its bosses, with two high-end rewards waiting at the end.

The Ayr’Haeth also introduce race levels to EverQuest Legends. Existing races remain level 50, while newly added races, starting with the Ayr’Haeth, begin at level 1. Their racial traits include stronger taps and runes, weaker base health regeneration outdoors during the day, improved tracking for living NPCs, plus Hide, Sneak, and Infravision.

A seasonal event is running alongside the update through November 3. During the event, players can claim a free Werewolf pet illusion from the in-game shop, complete a new Ayr’Haeth-themed quest in Lake Nerius for a free pet illusion of their choice, or pick up additional pet illusions from the Marketplace.
