EVE Online’s Alliance Tournament XXII starts August 29 with 58 teams
EVE Online’s Alliance Tournament XXII begins Saturday, August 29, with the first match scheduled for 13:30 UTC on the Fenris Creations Twitch channel. According to CCP’s official post, 58 teams have signed up for this year’s event.
The tournament is changing things up with a Swiss-style preliminary stage. Every team plays seven matches, with later pairings putting teams against opponents with similar records. After those rounds, the top 16 move on to the finals, which are set for October 31 and November 1.
Preliminary matches will run across three weekends: August 29 to 30, September 5 to 6, and September 12 to 13. Broadcasts start at 13:30 UTC each day, with commentary and analysis on stream.
As usual, this is small-team EVE at its most controlled and cutthroat. Each side can field up to ten pilots, with captains building their comps around tournament ship point values and a 200-point cap. Matches last ten minutes, so there’s not much room for hesitation once the fighting starts.
Viewers will also have a few incentives to tune in. The stream will support Twitch channel point predictions, with SKIN rewards tied to match winners, and Twitch Drops are planned for each weekend. Those drops include booster crates, SKINR materials, and ship SKINs.
This year’s sponsor is the Amarr Empire, and the top 16 teams will receive limited-edition prize ships: the Herald electronic attack frigate and the Penitence combat recon hull. CCP says 140 of each will be distributed across the top 16, while the champions will receive 40 of each. Amarr Victory SKINs will also be awarded for match wins, including during the preliminaries.
