EVE Online is adding a PvP-free starting region for new players this summer
CCP Games is changing how new players enter EVE Online. This summer, the MMO will add Exordium, a new central starter region where PvP is completely disabled for fresh accounts.
According to the official post, all new players will begin in Exordium instead of being split across faction-based starting systems. The idea is pretty simple: keep newcomers in one place, make it easier for friends to start together, and give corps a clearer hub for recruitment.
Exordium is basically a protected tutorial region. It will include starter and career agent systems, an AIR Trade Center station, and early activities meant to introduce the usual EVE paths. CCP says the area uses a new “starter space” security tier that turns off all PvP, reduces general rewards, and prevents players from placing structures there.
The rollout will happen in phases. Before Fanfest, players will be able to visit the region and look around, but they won’t be able to use its activities yet. The full version is scheduled to go live with EVE’s next expansion sometime this summer.
That’s a notable shift for a game that’s long had a reputation for being rough on beginners. EVE has added onboarding tools over the years, but a fully PvP-free starting area is a bigger step than usual.
CCP also shared a fresh ban report. In a post on X, the studio said it handed out 6,430 permanent bans last month, including 329 hacked accounts, and again urged players to enable two-factor authentication.
