Elder Scrolls Online’s U49 and “Season Zero” land March 9, with Dragonknight visuals getting a pass
The Elder Scrolls Online is kicking off its first season, dubbed Season Zero, on March 9 alongside Update 49. ZeniMax Online Studios is also giving players an early look at what it’s doing with the Dragonknight revamp, specifically the feel and presentation of its skill lines.
In a new developer blog, ZOS says the focus for this update is tightening up the look and feel of Dragonknight abilities, with the team aiming to reduce that “floaty” combat vibe while staying in step with balance work happening elsewhere.
On the visuals side, the studio says it leaned into Dragonknight’s physical, magma-heavy identity for updated animations and sound. The goal, according to the post, is to bring older skill lines up to the quality level of newer updates without completely alienating players who are used to how the class has looked and sounded for years. The blog includes multiple clips showing the changes in motion.
Looking a little further out, ZOS has also started teasing a Seasons Direct stream set for March 31.
March is set to be busy in general for ESO: U49 is part of the month’s rollout, and the Jester’s Festival is also on the calendar. One other heads-up from ZOS: the Endeavors and daily login rewards systems are winding down next week, ahead of their replacement with the Tamriel Tomes system in April.
