Dune: Awakening Update 1.5 Adds Full Single-Player as Console Head Start Begins
Dune: Awakening update 1.5 is live, bringing a full single-player mode, broader gameplay customization, the end of the Book One storyline, and the start of console access for Deluxe and Ultimate owners.
The console head start began September 17 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and the Microsoft Store. The full console launch, including physical editions, is set for September 22. Cross-play won’t be available at launch, but Funcom says it’s coming later.
The biggest addition is single-player, which includes the full game solo across all platforms. Players can pick from three difficulty presets or tune individual settings. Some systems have been adjusted for solo play, too: the Exchange works as a vendor, the Landsraad simulates rival guilds, and the Coriolis storm no longer instantly wipes Deep Desert progress.
- Self-hosted servers on PC now support deeper rules customization, including PvP and PvE settings, harvesting and XP multipliers, base decay, durability, death drops, sandstorms, and building limits.
- The Great Convention Part III adds the final Book One chapter, making the full story playable from start to finish.
- The Landsraad endgame has been rebuilt around repeatable missions instead of resource turn-ins, with PvE and single-player support.
- Hagga Basin is now fully PvE on official servers, while the Deep Desert has both PvE and PvP instances. The PvP version offers higher mining and harvesting yields.
- Base and vehicle loss has been softened with base snapshots, vehicle recovery, full base recycling outside the Deep Desert, and the removal of base taxes.
- New locations, Imperial Testing Stations, weapons, contracts, dynamic encounters, and a radio station have been added.
Update 1.5 also changes how characters move between worlds. Official server characters can be played on any official server and moved to private or self-hosted servers, but not back to official servers. Single-player characters stay locked to single-player.
Console versions include Performance and Quality graphics modes targeting 60fps and 30fps respectively, both using Dynamic 4K. On PC, the game is Steam Deck verified and supports GeForce Now.
A paid Filmic Archive DLC launches September 22 for $9.99, adding cosmetic gear and building pieces inspired by Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two. A free Polar Cap update is also planned for later this year, with a new survival map, icy biome, resources, loot, craftables, and a standalone storyline.
