Dune: Awakening Details Offline Single-Player Mode and Adds Five Landsraad Missions

Funcom has shared more technical detail on Dune: Awakening’s upcoming single-player mode, which is planned to arrive alongside the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions on September 22. The short version: moving the MMO survival game into an offline setup removes some multiplayer overhead, but it also shifts work that was previously handled server-side onto the player’s own hardware.

According to the official dev blog, that means local machines will need to handle more of the game’s calculations in single-player. Funcom also says a few online-focused systems are being adjusted rather than cut outright. The Landsraad, for example, will simulate Minor House progress in the background so the faction competition still feels active. Social Hubs will remain, but the player Exchange market is being removed for the offline mode.

The studio also pushed a smaller live patch for current players. The 1.4.10.0 patch notes list five new Landsraad missions, along with a handful of practical gameplay tweaks.

Cargo containers are now heavier, which should make them harder to shove around. Players also can’t stand on vehicles once they’re moving at higher speeds, though low-speed vehicle antics should still be possible. Coriolis Storm buildup has been adjusted too, with wind particles removed and late-stage fog density reduced.
