Drakantos sets another beta for May with a bigger focus on PvP

Drakantos is getting another beta test in May, and this one is aimed more squarely at PvP. According to the official post, players who join the test will still be able to run the same PvE content from the previous event, but the main goal this time is tuning the game’s competitive modes. Visually, Drakantos looks a lot like Tibia, but the core gameplay is totally different.

That PvP lineup is fairly broad for an isometric indie MMO. Wingeon says the test will cover duels, small battle royale-style matches, PvPvE hellgates, arena combat, and “adventure invasions,” which can interrupt a mission and turn it into a PvP fight between teams.

The studio says those invasion events are meant to avoid the usual problems with forced PvP by dropping both sides into the encounter without pre-built PvP setups. Players who win get better rewards, while the losing side still keeps the rewards from the mission they were already doing. If you want to avoid that kind of content entirely, the post says you can skip those missions.

Outside of PvP, Wingeon also shared a quick progress update on the game itself. The team says it has been polishing lighting, adding quests, laying groundwork for custom games, reworking mountain biomes, updating menu visuals, adding weekly fishing quests, and continuing localization work, including English support.

The developers also acknowledged that progress has been slower than some players expected. They said part of that time has gone into hiring and training so the team can support development better now and, eventually, ship updates faster after launch.

A specific May date wasn’t included in the source post. For now, the main takeaway is that Drakantos’ next public test is on the way, and PvP is clearly becoming a much bigger part of the game.
