Digital Extremes says Warframe and Soulframe won’t use AI-generated content
Digital Extremes has taken a clear public stance on generative AI, saying neither Warframe nor Soulframe will include AI-generated content. The comment came from Warframe community manager Megan Everett in a recent interview, where she said the studio is “a very non-AI company” and that everything in both games is being made by people.
According to the interview, Everett was blunt about it, saying “Nothing in our games will be AI-generated. Ever.” That puts Digital Extremes alongside other studios that have recently made similar promises as concerns around AI art and asset generation keep spilling into game development.
The interview also touched on a few other current topics around the studio’s games, including the newly revealed paint-themed Follie frame for Warframe, some unexpected inspiration from Super Mario 64, the game’s launch on Switch 2, and ongoing work on Soulframe as Digital Extremes moves that project toward a full 1.0 release.
There’s not much more to the AI statement beyond that, but the wording was direct enough to leave little room for interpretation. For players who care about how a live game is made, especially one as long-running as Warframe, that’s probably the main takeaway here.
