Diablo IV’s Lord of Hatred expansion is live, with launch queues and Season of Reckoning alongside it

Diablo IV’s Lord of Hatred expansion went live worldwide late last night, opening the doors to the game’s next big chunk of content and, for at least some players, the usual launch-day queue issues. Reports of login waits and connection trouble started popping up on Reddit and Blizzard’s forums shortly after release, though the bigger spike seemed to ease later in the evening.

According to the official post, the expansion adds the Paladin and Warlock classes, a new campaign centered on Mephisto, the Skovos region, fishing, and a batch of broader gameplay updates. Blizzard also rolled out base game changes including skill tree tweaks, a higher level cap, pathfinding, and a map overlay.

Season of Reckoning launched at the same time, but it’s a little different from Diablo IV’s usual seasonal setup. Blizzard has said this one won’t include a season-specific story, theme, or gameplay hook, calling it a break from the normal format. The next season is expected to return to the standard structure.

For players who haven’t been keeping up, Lord of Hatred is Diablo IV’s latest expansion and a fairly sizable one, with new classes and a new region doing most of the heavy lifting. The added quality-of-life features may end up mattering just as much for regular players, especially things like map overlay and pathfinding.

So the short version is simple: the expansion is out now, the new season is live, and if launch-night server problems kept you out, things may already be settling down.
