Diablo IV’s Hell’s Legacy Season Brings Back the Prime Evils on September 15

Diablo IV’s Season of Hell’s Legacy starts September 15, 2026 at 11 a.m. PT and runs until September 29 at 10:59 a.m. PT. Blizzard is tying this one to Diablo’s 30th anniversary, with a seasonal questline built around echoes of Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto.

The setup brings Deckard Cain back as a lost soul warning players about three dark wanderers. Finishing the seasonal questline lets players collect Splinters of Evil from encounters beneath Tristram Cathedral, at Arreat Summit, and inside the Durance of Hate. Each Splinter lines up with a Prime Evil and changes how certain activities play, while also giving the player a combat power tied to fire, cold, or physical damage.

  • Waking Nightmares recreate moments from past Diablo games as dungeons, capstone-style challenges, and smaller open-world encounters.
  • Soul Splinters are seasonal gems with both a bonus and a drawback, and can be upgraded through the Horadric Cube.
  • War Plans progress will be shared across eligible alts on the same account, split by Seasonal or Eternal, Hardcore or non-Hardcore, and Solo Self-Found status.
  • Mythic Unique crafting is being adjusted to make outcomes more predictable, including a cache option focused on Iconic Mythics.
  • Rebirth lets players move an Eternal character into the Seasonal realm, resetting them to level 1 while keeping name, class, appearance, and character state.
  • Nine legacy Uniques are being added permanently, including Leoric’s Crown, Stone of Jordan, The Furnace, In-Geom, and Messerschmidt’s Reaver.

The season also adds 125 objectives across nine account-wide ranks. Rewards include Skill Points, Paragon points, Resplendent Sparks, Mythic Unique Caches, cosmetics, titles, materials, and the Dark Wanderbear pet. Blizzard says about 15% of the seasonal objectives require the Lord of Hatred expansion.

A Twitch drop is planned for the same September 15 to September 29 window. Watching any Diablo IV stream for two hours unlocks the Deforestation Two-Handed Axe cosmetic.

Blizzard also outlined a few broader Diablo IV plans alongside the season. An Amazon class pack is planned for the first half of 2027, with Champion, Skirmisher, Ranger, and Commander archetypes plus a new javelin weapon type. Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection is also set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15. Blizzard said no further Diablo IV expansions are currently planned beyond Lord of Hatred, with the team focusing on seasons and Diablo V while continuing to support Diablo IV.
