Diablo Immortal’s Made to Suffer Update Opens More of Lut Gholein on September 17

Diablo Immortal’s next major update, Made to Suffer, goes live after maintenance on September 17, 2026, bringing a new story quest, a fresh Lut Gholein area, two Legendary Gems, and a Battlegrounds refresh.

Maintenance starts September 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. PDT for Oceania, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe servers. Americas servers go down September 17 from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. PDT. Once that wraps, players level 60 and up can continue the Nation in Agony storyline, though Blizzard notes that jumping in before finishing The Taking and Bloodied Jewel may spoil earlier quests.

The main addition is the High Ward, a new section of Lut Gholein built around Sultan Jerhyn’s palace. It comes with new bounties, objectives, and wanted monsters, while the Made to Suffer quest brings back figures and locations tied to Diablo II’s Act II.

  • City of Pain runs September 17 through September 30, letting players earn up to 1,300 City of Pain Tokens per week from activities like story quests, Lut Gholein content, Battlegrounds, and dungeons. Tokens can be traded for rewards including Sacred Chests and Legendary Equipment.
  • Twisting Torments is a new Tuesday zone event in the Rocky Waste, where either Andariel or Duriel invades Lut Gholein for the day. Defeating Lieutenants tied to both bosses grants increased rewards, including a weekly Legendary item.
  • Battlegrounds is dropping the demonic invasion look and returning to the Nephalem-themed style for readability. Small Demons and Demon Gates are gone, the wider roads remain, and future Battleground seasons are being shortened from 10 weeks to 8 weeks.
  • Two Legendary Gems are being added: Enigma Latera, a 5-Star gem focused on chaining Primary Attack effects, and Prong Crag, a 2-Star gem that triggers defensive and offensive bonuses after taking a heavy hit.

The update also adds Progressive Upgrades for Normal Gems starting at Rank 6, unlocks Heroes Journey Chapters 5 and 6, and lets players replay The Bloodied Jewel through the Adventurer’s Book at Cain’s Workshop.

There are a few broader quality-of-life changes too. Iben Fahd’s Sanctum is getting more post-daily chests based on server age, player inspection will show more equipped cosmetics and portals, instanced quests can have their difficulty lowered after repeated defeats, and Raid the Vault’s Hidden Passage no longer needs four players to activate. Barbarian, Blood Knight, Crusader, and Druid balance changes are also planned.
