Destiny: Rising starts Season of Wishes with a new zone and drops its energy system
Destiny: Rising, the mobile version of Destiny, has kicked off its Season of Wishes update, and the biggest changes are pretty straightforward: there’s a new open-world area to explore, and the game’s pinnacle energy system is gone.
According to the official post, the season opens the Red Sea Rift, a new map that adds three dungeons, public events, and the usual hidden extras to hunt down. A new Great Hunt raid is also on the way on April 4.
The more notable shift for a lot of players may be what NetEase removed. Pinnacle energy, which had been a sticking point since earlier in the game’s life, has been scrapped entirely. That means players won’t be pushed into certain modes through that system anymore.
NetEase is also moving away from gacha pulls for mythic characters. Instead, mythic heroes will now be unlocked through dedicated events, starting with Efrideet.
Season of Wishes also adds a handful of other updates, including new exotic weapons, catch-up mechanics for players below the current season rank, and higher difficulty options for Operation Cordon and The Expanse. Three of the new exotics will be familiar to Destiny 2 players.
The upcoming Great Hunt raid will have a world-first race as well. NetEase outlined that event in a separate announcement, with physical prizes planned for top finishers.
