CyberAgent’s Game Business Jumps 31% As Umamusume Goes Global

CyberAgent had a strong January to March quarter, and its game division was one of the big reasons why. The Japanese tech and entertainment company reported record Q2 sales of ¥246.2 billion, up 13.3% year over year, while operating profit climbed 39.3% to ¥29.0 billion.

For gamers, the main story is Cygames and CyberAgent’s broader push to turn its anime, mobile, PC, and media brands into global franchises.

CyberAgent said its game business benefited from successful anniversary events for major titles and stronger overseas operations. The biggest standout was Umamusume: Pretty Derby, whose English version launched in June 2025 and helped overseas game sales rise 3.5x year over year to ¥13.1 billion in Q2.

The company also highlighted GOODROID’s casual game business, which has now passed 600 million downloads across its titles. Its new hyper-casual studio Pawars released Bus Rush Fever! in March 2026.

The forward lineup has a few items worth watching for PC and anime game fans.

The Media & IP side is also becoming more relevant to gamers. ABEMA turned profitable and helped lift Media & IP operating profit 65.9% to ¥5.4 billion. CyberAgent is trying to build a full IP machine, covering comics, anime, live-action, distribution, events, merchandise, and overseas expansion.

One notable anime project is Kagurabachi, which is scheduled to begin airing in April 2027. CyberAgent also pointed to ABEMA’s 10th anniversary in April 2026, when related videos passed 200 million views in two days.

The broader takeaway is clear: CyberAgent wants more global hits, not just domestic mobile successes. With Umamusume finally showing meaningful overseas traction, Granblue returning to PC and console, and hololive Dreams waiting in the wings, the company’s game slate is starting to look a lot more relevant outside Japan.
