Corepunk studio says funding is recovering, outlines next big wipe and update plans

Artificial Core says Corepunk is still moving forward after last month’s layoffs, and the studio is now trying to calm worries about the MMO’s funding and development. In a recent Discord Q&A, the developer said the cuts were caused by temporary funding interruptions and that it’s gradually restoring the studio’s financing, with hopes of resolving those issues within the next month or two.

That same Q&A also gave players a clearer look at what’s next for the game. According to the official Discord Q&A, Corepunk’s next major update is planned to include another wipe, a new raid dungeon called the Depot, the first version of guilds, and possibly the Commando class, though that part sounds less certain.

Beyond that, Artificial Core said it wants to keep building out open-world content, including more PvE and PvP zones and additional low-level world events. The studio also said it’s working on endgame crafting so crafters stay relevant later on, with more specializations and map expansions planned further down the line.

What’s missing right now is timing. The studio didn’t attach dates to any of those features, so players know what’s being worked on but not when it’ll actually arrive.

For the moment, the most recent live changes are much smaller in scope. The latest patch notes focus mostly on balance adjustments to armor, passives, and characters rather than new content.

Corepunk is currently in early access, mixing MMO structure with ARPG-style combat and progression. After the layoffs raised questions about whether development was in trouble, this Q&A mostly serves as a status check: the project is still in development, another wipe is coming with the next big update, and the studio says it expects its funding situation to stabilize soon.
