City of Titans clears Unreal Engine 5.8 hurdle, pet summoning now in testing

Missing Worlds Media has posted its Q3 2026 update for City of Titans, and the big takeaway is that the superhero MMO has now been successfully built in Unreal Engine 5.8. The studio says that was the major technical blocker it had been working around, and that several long-awaited systems can now move forward.

The team had hoped to turn the next major content drop into its Q3 update, but said it likely won’t be ready for October. Instead, the update lays out what’s already running internally and what players may get to test “soon,” though no firm release date was given.

  • New NPC AI is in place internally, aimed at making enemies and allies behave more actively.
  • Reworked movement is ready for testing, including travel powers and changes to weight, direction, and momentum.
  • Custom key binding has been added as more menus and options become functional.
  • Chat is now in development after waiting on the Unreal 5.8 build and related networking work.
  • Several power sets have been built, but they’re still considered alpha and may see animation changes.
  • The quest system is implemented internally and being upgraded for mission design tools.
  • Leveling, power refinement, and costume creator fixes are also in progress.

One notable surprise is pet summoning and controls. Missing Worlds said it has been testing the feature, which could mean the Commander archetype arrives earlier than previously planned. The studio had not originally expected Commander to be part of the game’s 1.0 release.

The update also notes that current testing uses placeholder character models and UI in a closed environment, so players shouldn’t treat screenshots as final. For now, the practical news is that City of Titans has cleared an important engine milestone, but the next playable update still doesn’t have a date.
