Pax Dei’s Saddle Up Update Adds Horses, Road Auto-Run, and Player Titles
Mainframe Industries has rolled out Pax Dei’s R49 “Saddle Up!” update on all shards, bringing horses to the sandbox MMO after a few weeks of public testing. The update went live on October 22, 2026, and adds mounted travel, saddle crafting, a new Riding skill, road-following auto-run, player titles, and a handful of quality-of-life changes.
One of the bigger account-side changes is simple but welcome: unused Plot Tokens no longer expire. Previously, players had 12 months to use them before losing them. Now they can be held indefinitely, including tokens players already own. Once used to claim or extend a plot, they still provide 30 days of plot time.
- Horses are tied to crafted saddles, with nine Leatherworking recipes spread across four tiers.
- Saddle types determine the horse: Riding Horses are balanced, Pack Horses carry more cargo, and Coursers focus on speed and stamina.
- Higher-tier saddles require Riding skill, starting at skill 10 for Tier 2 and going up to 30 for Tier 4.
- Mounted auto-run can follow roads, slow for sharp turns, and try to steer around obstacles. Roads also reduce stamina drain while galloping and slow saddle wear.
- Horses can’t be summoned or called in combat or inside dungeons.
- Players can’t fight while mounted, but enemies can attack the horse’s Courage. If it hits zero, the horse bucks the rider off and disappears briefly.
Horses aren’t permanently lost. They can’t be killed, stolen, or looted in PvP, and saddles don’t break from riding. A saddle can eventually reach the end of its lifetime, though, at which point the horse becomes “worn.” It can still be ridden, but with reduced performance and no cargo carrying.
Riding is now its own skill, with XP earned by traveling on horseback. Faster horses level it more quickly because they cover more distance. Horses can also be named through the Miracles menu, and their appearance is generated the first time they’re called. That look is permanent.
The update also adds 81 player titles unlocked through certain achievements, a way to follow party members, craft-X quantities, improved stack splitting, and a grass removal building piece. Mainframe says a first-anniversary long-weekend boost is planned for about a week after the update, with extra Skill XP for Combat, Gathering, and Riding, plus increased Grace gains and a higher named NPC spawn chance. Exact timing hasn’t been announced yet.
