Champions Online loses two developers as the MMO keeps rolling out small updates

Champions Online has quietly lost two developers, according to posts on the game’s Discord. Ramaster said they’re leaving the project, while Arashi said they’ve moved over to full-time work on Neverwinter.

That’s the clearest bit of recent news around the superhero MMO, which has otherwise been ticking along with smaller maintenance and event updates. According to the official post, the game’s regular maintenance window has now shifted to Tuesdays.

The other notable change this month is a limited-time event that brings back all five special Therakiel Alerts through March 31. Cryptic also continues to add and sell lockboxes, though there hasn’t been much in the way of bigger feature announcements.

The developer departures were mentioned in separate Discord messages from the two staffers. Arashi specifically said the move was a transfer to full-time work on Neverwinter. Ramaster’s post indicated they were leaving for another opportunity, but didn’t go into much more detail.

That leaves Champions Online in a familiar spot for longtime players: still online, still getting occasional updates, but with limited communication and no major roadmap in sight. Earlier this year, Cryptic veteran Jack Emmert said the game remains an important part of the studio, but so far that hasn’t translated into much public-facing detail about what’s next.
