Champions Online is giving out free level 30 heroes and running a costume contest this week

Champions Online has kicked off a limited-time Quick Start event that lets players claim one free level 30 Archetype hero per account. According to the official post, the event runs through May 21, and the character is permanent.

Players can choose from the Behemoth, the Icicyle, and the Inventor. The Quick Start hero starts at level 30 with high-quality gear, and anyone who reaches level 40 before the event ends will also get a Free Form character slot.

Cryptic is also hosting an Unconventional Heroes costume contest on April 24 in the Powerhouse Theatre. Judging starts at 3:30 p.m. Pacific, with the contest itself beginning at 4:00 p.m. Pacific. The studio says it will stream the event on its official Twitch channel.

For anyone who hasn’t checked in on the game in a while, this is part of a wider Quick Start push across Cryptic’s older online games, including Neverwinter and Star Trek Online. In Champions Online’s case, it’s basically a fast track for returning players or curious newcomers who want to skip the early leveling and jump straight into a built character.
