Capcom Hits Record Sales As Digital, PC, And Catalog Games Drive Another Big Year

Capcom wrapped its fiscal year with record consolidated sales and operating profit, powered by new releases, long-tail catalog sales, and continued growth outside Japan.

For the year ended March 2026, the company reported ¥195.3 billion in net sales, up 15% year over year, and ¥75.2 billion in operating profit, also up 15%. That marks Capcom’s 13th straight year of operating profit growth.

The biggest driver remained Capcom’s Digital Contents business, which includes its console and PC games. That segment posted ¥144.2 billion in sales, up 15%, while operating profit rose 8% to ¥70.6 billion. Digital sales continued to dominate, with package sales falling 10% while digital sales rose 21%.

For players, the most interesting number may be unit sales. Capcom sold 59.07 million game units during the year, its highest ever for a fiscal year. Catalog titles made up 49.46 million of that total, or 83.7%, showing how games like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, and Devil May Cry keep selling well long after launch.

Resident Evil Requiem was the standout new title, with 6.91 million units sold. Capcom also reported strong catalog numbers for Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, Street Fighter 6, and Monster Hunter Wilds.

Looking ahead, Capcom expects another record year. Its FY27/3 plan calls for ¥210 billion in net sales and ¥83 billion in operating profit. The company is targeting 65 million game units sold, including 53 million catalog units. PRAGMATA was released in April, while Onimusha: Way of the Sword is planned for 2026.

Capcom is also leaning harder into live events, arcades, merchandise, anime, and film. It plans to grow its arcade footprint to 70 stores, release four pachislo machines, hold Capcom Cup 13 and Street Fighter League: World Championship 2026 at Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena, and release a live-action Street Fighter movie on October 16.

For MMO and PC gamers, the key takeaway is that Capcom’s strategy is increasingly global, digital, and PC-friendly. The company says its games now sell across 244 countries and regions, and it sees PC and console users as a 1.5 billion-player target market.
