Blizzard Says WoW Employee Is Gone After GM Tools Were Used to Kill Mythic+ Bosses

Blizzard says a World of Warcraft employee is no longer with the company after using GM abilities to help players during a Mythic+ dungeon run. The incident surfaced after combat logs were shared online, showing bosses being killed through direct intervention rather than normal play.

The run drew wider attention after one of the players involved discussed it on a Twitch stream, according to PC Gamer’s report. The player said the group was pushing for a seasonal title and asked a GM friend to “one-shot” a difficult boss. Logs reportedly showed the GM stepping in more than once during the dungeon.

Blizzard addressed the situation through a statement posted by community manager Kaivax on the official forums. In the official post, the WoW team said the action came from a single Blizzard employee and violated the company’s Code of Conduct.

“This employee is no longer with the company effective immediately,” Blizzard said. The studio also said it is taking action against the player accounts that were “complicit in this violation.”

Blizzard thanked players and community sites for flagging the issue, and noted that sites including Raider.io have removed the affected run from their records. The company described the case as isolated, which is the key point for players worried this could point to a broader problem with GM access or competitive Mythic+ rankings.
