Blizzard apologizes for WoW patch 12.0.5 launch and rolls out more hotfixes

Blizzard has acknowledged that World of Warcraft patch 12.0.5 had a rough launch, saying the update “was not up to our standards” after players ran into enough problems to disrupt play. In a short message to the community, the studio said the team has been working since release to stabilize the game and address the biggest issues, and that it plans to communicate more clearly when launches go sideways.

According to the hotfixes update, Blizzard pushed another round of fixes on April 23, 2026. Most of them target class bugs, a problem in Décor Duel, and a few dungeon and raid issues.

  • Marksmanship Hunters no longer get double benefits from Pathfinding or Endurance Training through certain talent combinations, and pet passive bonuses should now behave properly when swapping talent nodes.
  • Warlocks got fixes for Frequent Traveler not working with another Warlock’s Demonic Gateway, plus a Diabolist bug where Abyssal Dominion didn’t match Demonic Tyrant’s duration with Reign of Tyranny.
  • Affliction and Destruction both had Cooldown Manager issues cleaned up, including missing displays and spells that shouldn’t have been listed anymore.
  • In Décor Duel, hiders can no longer get near the Seeker waiting room, which Blizzard said was being used to trap seekers at the start of rounds.
  • Magisters’ Terrace, Windrunner Spire, and The Voidspire’s Crown of the Cosmos also received encounter fixes, including a 10% reduction to Gravity Collapse damage.

Blizzard didn’t share a broader roadmap for 12.0.5 cleanup beyond saying it’s taking lessons from the launch and wants to be more open about known issues and incoming fixes. For now, players dealing with patch problems should probably keep an eye on the ongoing hotfix thread, since that’s where the live adjustments are landing.
