Black Desert Mobile merges Great Desert difficulties, adds Chaos-grade Runes
Black Desert Mobile’s latest update reworks the Great Desert by folding its three difficulty levels into a single version of the region. Alongside the overhaul, Pearl Abyss has added Chaos-grade Runes for gear growth, expanded the Ancient Anvil UI, and kicked off a set of performance-focused graphics updates aimed at steadier frame rates in big fights.
The big gameplay change is the Great Desert merge. Instead of picking from separate difficulties, players now enter one unified desert where monster Combat Power ranges from 30,000 up to 83,000, with tougher enemies paying out better loot. Rewards mentioned in the update include Edana’s Coins (with higher excavation gains), Luminescent Crystals, and items like Blessed Light Crystal and Blessed Fog Crystal.
Hystria Ruins now has new monster groups in the 50,000–60,000 CP range, with loot pools that can include Ancient Seeds and Intact Ancient Guardian’s Cores. Enemies near Aakman Border can also drop those items, and the new zones are set at 80,000 CP. Great Desert bosses were adjusted to fit the new single-difficulty setup, and overall rewards were tuned to match what used to be the Shahzad challenge level. Some story progress requirements were also updated to align with the changes.
The Wandering Merchant will now appear in the Great Desert, with its inventory and quantities revamped for the unified region. Pearl Abyss has the full breakdown in the patch notes.
On the progression side, Chaos-grade Runes can be crafted using materials that include Primal-grade Runes, with other needed items coming from Great Desert activities. The Ancient Anvil also now lets you view the enhancement gauge for all enhancement levels of the item you’re working on, rather than only the current step.
Finally, the first graphics update in what Pearl Abyss says will be a series is live, and it’s focused on smoothing large-scale multiplayer combat with more stable performance.
