Baal Returns in Diablo Immortal’s Darkening Decades Event This Week

Diablo Immortal’s next update is rolling out globally by Wednesday, bringing Baal back for a limited-time Darkening Decades event tied to Diablo’s 30th anniversary. The event runs through September 1 and sends players back into Destruction’s End before a modified boss fight against the Lord of Destruction.

According to Blizzard’s official update announcement, players will need to clear objectives, take on two Elder Rift modifiers, and then face Baal with three random modifiers active during the Worldstone Corrupter fight. Rewards include the Ashwold Wraith Cosmetic set, among other event drops.

There’s also a Goblin-focused event running from August 12 through August 25, with more treasure-hunting around Sanctuary, plus the Revenant Market returns with a Lord of Terror-inspired skin available.

  • New Wing materials are being added, alongside Favorites, new material types, and the retirement of some existing materials.
  • Every class is getting new Legendary Affixes, though some older ones are being removed.
  • Blizzard is starting work on a broader Essence and build customization overhaul, with more details in the developer forum post.
  • Battleground matchmaking is being adjusted so Armor and Armor Penetration factor into group balance more clearly.
  • Accursed Tower and Tower War are getting changes meant to push team play and improve competition.

A new Challenge Rift season starts August 24 with 50 additional levels. Blizzard is also making the current top levels, 831 to 850, easier to clear so players can catch up before the new season begins.

Looking a little further out, Diablo Immortal is getting an engine update next month. Blizzard says it will rework many visual effects, lighting, and shadows, while also optimizing visuals like ground and water.
