Arcany is now free-to-play ahead of its planned Steam launch in July
Arcany, the pixel-art MMO from a two-person husband-and-wife team, is now free-to-play. The developers also say the game is currently on track for a Steam release in July, giving curious players a way to try it before that launch.
According to the developers’ Reddit post, Arcany mixes a cozy MMO setup with bullet-hell combat. The team says the current build already includes quests, a dungeon, bosses, cinematics, time trials, achievements, world events, and player-made maps.
The game first started getting attention last fall as an indie MMO project built by a very small team. Its setup sounds a little unusual for the genre: colorful pixel art, action-heavy combat, and horizontal progression built around five skills and challenges instead of a more traditional level grind.
The team has also shared a 2026 roadmap in a separate announcement. It lays out seasonal updates with story chapters, new regions, cosmetics, and pets. Exact timing for those beats looks broad right now, but the July Steam target is the clearest date attached to the plan.
For now, the main takeaway is simple: Arcany is playable for free, and the developers are treating 2026 as a ramp-up year leading into Steam.
