ARC Raiders adds hurricanes, new enemies, and more in the Shrouded Sky update

ARC Raiders just got a new kind of problem overhead. Embark’s PvPvE extraction shooter rolled out the Shrouded Sky update today, adding hurricanes as a new weather event that can sweep across maps. The studio details the new system in its official post.

In practical terms, hurricanes mean worse visibility and strong winds that can chew through shield durability while you’re out in the Rust Belt. There’s an upside too: the storm can toss new items up to the surface, giving scavengers another reason to risk a run when the forecast looks bad.

To go with the new permanent weather event in the rotation, Embark also added a seasonal project focused on building a weather monitoring system, with rewards tied to completing it.

Shrouded Sky isn’t just weather, though. The update also brings two new enemy types, more character customization options (including beards), and a new area in the Dam Battlegrounds that’s positioned as a higher-value loot spot. On top of that, there are balance adjustments across multiple weapons and items. If you want the full list of tweaks, Embark posted the complete patch notes.

Separately, Embark has also been talking about how players have been interacting during testing, noting that not everyone is defaulting to shoot-on-sight. It sounds like the team is paying attention and may support more opportunities for friendly encounters going forward, but there’s nothing specific announced on that front yet.
