Apex Legends: Overclocked adds new Legend Axle on May 5
EA and Respawn have released a new gameplay trailer for Apex Legends: Overclocked, the battle royale’s next season, which launches May 5. The headline addition is a new Legend named Axle, alongside balance changes for Conduit and Vantage, a new way to bring back teammates, and another Mythic melee cosmetic.
Axle is built around aggressive movement. Respawn says her kit includes a passive called Drift for tighter movement control, a tactical called Nitro Gate that sends her into fast slides, and an ultimate, Kickstart, that deploys a drone that tracks enemies. From the way it’s being pitched, she looks aimed at players who like pushing fights and repositioning quickly.
Overclocked also reworks a couple of existing Legends. Conduit is getting two charges of Radiant Transfer in her base kit, plus a movement bonus when sprinting toward Skirmisher teammates through Savior’s Speed. Her new level 3 upgrades either grant Temp Shield instantly or let Radiant Transfer keep regenerating Temp Shields even through damage.
Vantage is getting a smaller set of upgrades, but ones that could still matter. Her Sniper’s Mark ultimate will have faster draw and aim response, while Echo Relocation now prevents hard landing penalties when she exits. Respawn is also adding a 4x zoom option and a 2x canted sight to give her more flexibility at range.
One of the bigger systemic changes is Deathbox Respawns. This lets players revive a fallen teammate directly at their Deathbox with a seven-second cast. There’s a cooldown attached, and it gets longer the more times that teammate has been downed, so it won’t be a free reset every fight.
Overclocked will also add the Twin Razors, a new Mythic Universal Melee cosmetic that can be used by any Legend. If you want a closer look at the season, EA and Respawn have posted the gameplay trailer.
