Albion Online’s Dragonfire Patch 3 Adds More Ancient Lands Portals and Mobile Targeting Options
Albion Online’s Dragonfire Patch 3 is live, with another round of changes aimed at making the Ancient Lands easier to access, especially for players sticking to Yellow Zones. Small Ancient Lands Portals in Yellow Zones now appear more often, lock for less time, and stay open longer for entry.
There’s a tradeoff, though. Rewards from Small Portals in Yellow Zones have been reduced to keep the added availability from flooding the economy. Small Portals in Red and Black Zones keep their existing rewards, so players looking for the better payout still need to take on lethal-zone risk.
- Small Ancient Lands Portals in Yellow Zones now spawn more frequently, with shorter average spawn times and higher regional appearance chances.
- Yellow Zone Small Portals now have a five-minute lock time and a 10-minute entry window.
- Large Portals are more common too, especially during prime times.
- Ancient Lands loot has been shifted more heavily toward the central Fire Drake chest, with a higher chance for Fire Dragon armor artifacts there.
- Ancient Lands mobs have been toned down slightly.
- A 15% Fame and loot boost is active in the Ancient Lands and Dragon Sanctuary until October 18 at 23:00 UTC on Albion Asia, and October 19 at 10:00 UTC on Albion Europe and Americas.
The patch also tweaks other Dragonfire content. Maeve has been made a bit more forgiving, particularly near the end of the fight. Open-world Dragons no longer fully heal when reset, instead returning to the last 20% health threshold they reached. They now award more Might as well.
Mobile players get a practical combat change in this patch: new targeting filters. Players can filter target cycling or attack-button dragging by enemies, allies, or party members. The options can be enabled under Controls, then Auto-Targeting, and toggled from the HUD. There’s also an Automatic mode that picks a targeting style based on your abilities and party status.
Sandbox Interactive also added a Double Tap to Self-Cast option under Controls, then General, for players who want to avoid accidental self-casts. The patch rounds things out with smaller popup notifications, Xbox chat fixes, and combat balance changes.
