AION 2 pre-download is live ahead of Founder’s Pack early access

AION 2 is now available to pre-download on Steam and PURPLE ahead of its Advanced Access period. Players who buy a Founder’s Pack can start playing on September 30 at 6:00 AM PDT, while the free-to-play global launch is set for October 5 at 6:00 AM PDT.

The client can be downloaded now from the Steam page or through PURPLE. Files will stay encrypted until Advanced Access begins, so players won’t be able to jump in early just by downloading ahead of time. Decryption also isn’t a reinstall, though how long it takes will depend on the player’s hardware.

The current schedule has Advanced Access running from September 30 at 6:00 AM PDT until October 4 at 10:00 PM PDT. Maintenance is planned from October 4 at 10:00 PM PDT to October 5 at 6:00 AM PDT, leading into the full launch. NCSoft notes that maintenance timing may change.

AION 2 is also handling servers a little differently. Each server is tied to a single faction, Elyos or Asmodian, and paired with an opposing faction server for cross-faction content like the Abyss. At launch, players pick a region, then a faction, then one of the available servers in that region.

  • Europe: Siel / Israphel, Nezekan / Zikel, Vaizel / Triniel, Kaisinel / Lumiel
  • NA West: Siel / Israphel
  • NA East: Siel / Israphel, Nezekan / Zikel
  • Latin America: Siel / Israphel, Nezekan / Zikel
  • Asia: Siel / Israphel

Those Elyos and Asmodian pairings are not permanent. The studio says matchups may be changed over time for balance, so today’s Abyss opponents may not be the same ones players see later.
