Aion 2 Global Launch Will Keep Korean QoL Changes, But Won’t Include a Year of Later Content
NC says Aion 2 is still on track for its global PC launch on October 5 through Steam and PURPLE, with a free Launch Scale Test planned for September 17 and 18. Players who buy a Founder’s Pack can start earlier, beginning September 30.
At gamescom 2026, the studio clarified how the global version will compare to the Korean and Taiwanese releases. The Western launch will start with Season 1, the same broad season those regions began with, but it won’t be a untouched day-one build. NC is folding in quality-of-life updates, balance changes, and progression adjustments made during the first year of Korean service.
That does not mean full content parity. Around a year of post-launch Korean content will be held back at global launch. NC said it expects to follow Korea’s rough three-month seasonal rhythm, but the Western version will likely stay behind to account for localization and publishing work. The team also plans to use live player progression data before locking in the exact pace.
The studio said it has smoothed item progression after Korean feedback and reduced daily and weekly gates, with the goal of letting players log in without feeling pushed through a checklist. PvP is also being handled more carefully. After Korea’s first year, NC moved away from forced PvP and toward optional PvP, and that will be the direction for the global version too.
A console version is still planned after the PC launch, but PC and console cross-play is unlikely for now. NC said differences in player habits and launch timing make separate operation the current expectation. Controller support will be available on PC, though. The Korean mobile version is not planned for the West.
NC also confirmed DLSS 4.5 is already live in Aion 2, with DLSS 5 support in development alongside NVIDIA. For ongoing communication, the global team plans to copy Korea’s weekly livestream feedback format. The game’s global subscription setup has also been consolidated into a $15 membership after player feedback, and that membership was later added to Founder’s Packs following criticism.
