Dragalia Lost
Dragalia Lost was a free-to-play mobile action RPG for iOS and Android, mixing fast, instance-based battles with team building, character collection, and a signature dragon transformation mechanic. Set in a bright fantasy world where humans and dragons coexist, it leaned heavily on co-op play and high-end presentation, making it one of Nintendo’s most ambitious mobile projects before service ended.

Dragalia Lost Overview
Dragalia Lost is a free-to-play 3D action RPG on iOS and Android, developed by Nintendo and Cygames. The adventure takes place in Alberia, a kingdom shaped by agreements between people and dragons. When the Sacred Shard begins to weaken, the young prince Euden sets out to forge new dragon pacts and prevent the realm from slipping into chaos.
On the gameplay side, Dragalia Lost is built around short, self-contained stages that play out like compact dungeon runs. You control a party of up to four adventurers, swapping between them as needed, and each character comes with distinct visuals, full voice acting, and a kit that pushes them toward specific roles. Combat is real-time and ability-driven, rewarding quick movement, timing, and knowing when to spend skills rather than simply auto-attacking through encounters.
The game’s defining twist is dragon shapeshifting. As you fight, a gauge fills, and once it is ready you can transform into a dragon for a limited window, gaining a new move set and a burst of power that can swing boss fights in your favor. Progression also has the familiar gacha backbone, with a large roster (over 60 characters) obtainable through summoning, supported by a reputation for handing out premium currency regularly via events, missions, and general play.

Development History / Background:
Dragalia Lost was co-developed by Nintendo EPD (Entertainment Planning & Development) and Cygames, a pairing known among mobile and console fans for titles such as Fire Emblem Heroes and Granblue Fantasy. Nintendo handled publishing worldwide, and the game launched on September 27, 2018 in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and the United States, with additional regions planned afterward.
A major part of its identity was its music, including work from Japanese musician Daoko and the theme song “Owaranai Sekai de,” which helped the game feel more like a premium release than a typical phone RPG. The partnership itself was also notable, with Nintendo acquiring 5% of Cygames’ stock during development. Dragalia Lost ultimately ended service on November 29, 2022.
