WoW: Midnight Hotfixes Nerf Venomous Abyss Mythic and Fix Shadowguard Point Bug
Blizzard’s November 5 hotfixes for World of Warcraft: Midnight take aim at The Venomous Abyss, with several Mythic damage reductions and encounter tweaks now live. The notes also fix a weird Shadowguard Point delve bug that could leave players visually changed and hostile to friendly units after leaving during waygate travel.
The Venomous Abyss changes are the main piece here, especially for Mythic groups. Blizzard reduced several pressure points across Entombed Sentinels, Twin Fangs, and The Coiled Altar, including a major cut to Twin Fangs’ Visceral Burst damage.
- Blood Venom pools from Entombed Sentinels now have a lower maximum scale on Heroic and Mythic, and their Mythic duration is down to 2 minutes from 5 minutes.
- Twin Fangs’ Visceral Burst damage has been reduced by 40% on Mythic.
- The Coiled Altar’s Axegrinders now move 20% slower on all difficulties.
- Axegrinder and Gloombomb damage are both down 20% on Mythic.
- Venom Rupture damage has been reduced by 15% on Mythic.
- Malevolent Resonance damage has been reduced by 60%.
- Gravebound Soul Fragments now last 2 seconds longer on Mythic.
- Spiritcackle now spawns 1 Spiteful Soulcoiler on Mythic instead of 2, matching Heroic behavior.
Outside the dungeon changes, Shadowguard Point’s Basilisk Blitz variant received a fix for an issue where leaving the delve while moving between waygates could alter your appearance and make friendly NPCs treat you as hostile.
There’s also a smaller NPC name cleanup. Several Tortollan names were updated, including the Lost Explorers inside The Venomous Abyss, who are now named Epu, Nema, and Gebbo.
