World of Warcraft patch 12.0.5 launched with housing disabled in the Americas and Oceania

World of Warcraft’s Patch 12.0.5, Lingering Shadows, is live, but players in the Americas and Oceania can’t use housing yet. Blizzard said it found a critical bug during pre-launch testing and brought the patch online with housing and neighborhoods disabled in those regions.

According to the official post, the issue was serious enough that leaving housing on would have caused errors for some players. Blizzard says it’s working on a fix now and plans to bring the system back with an additional brief maintenance once that fix is tested.

Everything else in 12.0.5 appears to be moving ahead as planned. Lingering Shadows is the first post-launch content update in the Midnight expansion cycle, and it adds Void Assaults, Ritual Sites, the Abyss Anglers activity, and Decor Duels PvP.

Blizzard didn’t give a timetable for when housing will return, only that it’s a top priority. So for now, if you logged in after the patch and found yourself locked out of your own place, that’s not just you.
