Valve warns Steam Deck OLED stock may come and go in some regions amid RAM shortage

Valve’s saying Steam Deck OLED availability might be a bit unpredictable for a while. The company added a note to the Steam Deck store page warning the OLED model could be “intermittently” unavailable in certain regions because of the ongoing RAM shortage.

The note showed up after reports that the Steam Deck OLED was out of stock in the US and Japan. TechRadar spotted the situation and Valve’s store page message in its report.

This isn’t the first time Valve’s pointed to memory and storage supply issues lately. Earlier this month, Valve also pushed back the launch timing for its next hardware due to component pricing and shortages. Valve still plans to ship its upcoming Steam Machine, Steam Frame VR headset, and a Steam controller in early 2026, but it sounded less confident about how easy those parts will be to source and what they’ll cost.

The bigger takeaway is that Valve’s not alone here. The same RAM crunch is reportedly putting pressure on other console makers too, with recent reporting suggesting it could affect both next-gen timelines and hardware pricing elsewhere in the industry.
