Stunlock says V Rising is done getting content updates, with a new game in the same world in the works

Stunlock Studios says V Rising is no longer getting new content updates. The vampire survival game will still receive balance changes and bug fixes when needed, but the studio says the current version is effectively complete.

According to the official post, Stunlock has shifted to a new project set in the same gothic world as V Rising. That game is still very early in development, so there’s no title, release window, or platform info yet.

The studio framed V Rising as having reached the end of the roadmap it originally set out to build, with Dracula serving as the endpoint for that arc. Going forward, it plans to keep an eye on player feedback through regular polls and patch the game when balance issues or bugs call for it.

That’s a notable change from what some players expected. Stunlock had previously hinted that it was taking time to figure out what came next, and plenty of fans read that as a slower path toward another major update for V Rising. This latest post makes it clear that isn’t happening.

Stunlock also said it isn’t adding mod tools, which has become part of the backlash around the announcement. The studio didn’t go into much detail beyond saying its focus is now on the next game.

V Rising first launched in early access in 2022 and reached 1.0 in 2024, mixing survival crafting, base-building, and action combat in an open-world vampire setting. For current players, the short version is simple: the game isn’t being shut down, but don’t expect another big expansion-style patch.
