Stars Reach devs say Crucible is also helping them spot where the game breaks

Playable Worlds used its latest Stars Reach livestream to talk through the newly released Crucible update and what it’s meant to test right now. The new planet is being positioned as a harsher, more combat-focused biome, while also pushing players further into resource gathering and survival-style systems.

Just as important, the studio said Crucible is giving the team better data on how people actually play, especially players who aren’t active in the game’s official Discord. The team is using this build to gather more stats and identify where the game is currently falling short.

That focus on telemetry sounds like it’ll continue. The developers said future builds should lean more on statistics gathering as testing goes on, which suggests upcoming updates may be shaped less by forum chatter and more by what players are doing in-game.

The stream also touched on a handful of features still in the works. Playable Worlds said it’s continuing to work on performance improvements, UI changes, and map and waypoint updates. Tradeable maps were mentioned as a possibility, though not as a confirmed feature.

The team is also looking at changing its update schedule. Instead of sticking to a rigid three-week cadence, future patches may arrive when features are actually ready. Other smaller topics included more decor items and an upcoming pistol weapon.

Stars Reach is still in active testing, and Crucible appears to be doing double duty as both a content drop and a way for the studio to get cleaner feedback from a broader slice of players.
