Star Citizen starts Alpha 4.7 previews as Stella Fortuna returns

Cloud Imperium has started previewing what’s coming in Star Citizen Alpha 4.7, with the first round focused on balance changes rather than one big headline feature. The early rundown includes more shield health for ships, new ship armor HP values, radar changes tied to power allocation and installed radar type, salvage contract improvements, and tweaks to missile blast radius.

The update is also still moving through PTU testing. According to the official PTU post, the latest phase has opened to Wave 3 testers, who can try major additions like new points of interest, the tier-zero crafting system, and the radar changes mentioned in the preview.

At the same time, Star Citizen’s Stella Fortuna event is back for St. Patrick’s Day. This year’s version includes a dangerous-flying video contest, a race event in Arena Commander, and the usual batch of themed cosmetics in the store, as outlined in the event announcement.

CIG also used a recent Star Citizen Live stream to talk about FPS gameplay. One of the bigger takeaways was its approach to armor design: the team said it wants gear to offer role-based benefits instead of mainly piling on penalties, with suits built around things like flight or combat. Developers also confirmed a stealth set is in the works and said they’re working on more deployables, including shields and area-denial grenades, along with new weapon ideas.

There’s still no full release date for Alpha 4.7 in this update, but previews are now underway and PTU access is widening, so the next test build is clearly taking shape.
