Spellcasters Chronicles kicks off its second closed beta weekend with a new arena and ranking test

Quantic Dream has opened the second closed beta weekend for Spellcasters Chronicles, and it’s live now ahead of the game’s Early Access launch on February 26. The build focuses on changes based on the first beta, while adding a new arena, more spells and summons, and a few practical features players will immediately notice. For those unfamiliar with this one, it’s a 3v3 action oriented game that looks like a MOBA.

The headline addition is a new arena, Nordic Shores of Valm, which is designed around three main lanes plus two side lanes. It also includes environmental conditions and hazards, along with six Lifestones (three to defend and three to attack) and nine altars.

On the gameplay side, this beta adds six new spells to build decks around: Fire Rain, Poison Grenade, Ice Infusion, Fire Infusion, Sacrifice, and Resurrection. It also introduces five new creatures, including the Stone Behemoth, the Lich, and the Faery, plus three new buildings.

Outside of combat, players can test a revamped onboarding and tutorial, along with in-game team text chat and a player reporting system. The beta also includes an early version of the ranking system, so groups can get a feel for how progression and comparison might work once Early Access begins.

The second beta weekend runs through February 2. Quantic Dream says the first wave of invites is already out, with more invite waves planned throughout the weekend. The studio has also revealed Founder’s Packs on Steam that include beta access and cosmetics, and you can read the full changes in the patch notes.
