Soulframe previews Preludes 13 with a new Prism-based stat system and more character options
Digital Extremes used its latest Soulframe Devstream to outline what’s coming in Preludes 13, the next step in the game’s ongoing early access rollout. The headline change is a rework of how stats work, shifting from manually tweaking Virtues to equipping pre-built loadout-style Prisms.
The new Virtue Prism system is meant to make builds feel more like clear role picks. Instead of dialing individual Virtues up and down, you’ll slot Prisms that come with set stat spreads. The stream’s examples included Wyld Tethren’s Raveling leaning into Courage for armor and melee play, while Druid of Iridis is stacked with Spirit for spellcasting.
Those Prism choices will also tie more directly into Pacts. Under the new setup, Virtues are being narrowed so Pact effects link to a single Virtue, rather than being spread across multiple stats.
Preludes 13 also brings what the devs described as a “1.0” pass on facial customization. Players will be able to choose from five faces and a larger selection of hairstyles, with hair dye options. Makeup is being removed for now, with Digital Extremes saying it’ll return later alongside more options.
On the content side, the world is getting some navigation help and a few new things to fight. A new Sparrow Tale is on the way, and the World Tree is set to receive a list and map that shows where Tales can be started. Combat-wise, the Vadagar Bear is being added, alongside an “improved combat action system” aimed at making fights feel smoother.
Digital Extremes didn’t share a specific release date for Preludes 13 in the portion covered here, but it’s framed as the next update in the current early access cycle.
