Soulframe Opens Its Free PC Alpha to Everyone on November 6
Digital Extremes is opening Soulframe Open Preludes to all Windows PC players on November 6. The free alpha playtest has been limited up to now, but anyone will be able to download it from the game’s official website and start testing the current version of the game.
The wider opening arrives alongside Verse of the Veilands, the next Soulframe Preludes update. Its biggest addition is the Omen Wolf mount system, letting players raise a wolf pup into a rideable companion after making progress through the new Veilands world corruption system.
- Veilands adds corrupted regions across Alca’s overworld after players complete The Tormented Stag Fable.
- The Omen Wolf mount becomes available after training the wolf pup, purifying two Veilands regions, brewing a Bairnday Biscuit, and feeding it to the pup.
- A new Pact, Ode Shrike, lets players use enemy-style tools like spike traps, balloon darts, bola chains, and an evasive throwing bomb.
- Bita’s Eve returns with Wintersquash patches, the headless horserider Veltruska mini-boss, limited-time rewards, and a special fish called Sunken Terror.
Soulframe is still early, so Digital Extremes is treating this as a feedback-driven alpha rather than a full launch. Players can explore, complete story quests called Fables, unlock World Trees, rescue animals, craft gear, customize their character, progress weapons, and eventually access co-op features as they push further in.
The studio says the mount and world progression systems are part of why it’s widening access now, since more players should give the team more useful feedback. Soulframe remains free to try during Open Preludes, with more features planned as development continues.
