Soulbound: Online Adds Its First Eight-Player Raid, Spectra
Spiderware has opened Spectra, the first eight-player raid for Soulbound: Online, as of September 17. The pixel-art MMORPG is still in Early Access, and the raid lands after eight straight weeks of post-launch patches following its July 21 release.
Spectra centers on the Necromancer, the first of the game’s Anima bosses. Unlike earlier content, this one is built around a full party, with tank, healer, and DPS roles all required. The studio says the fight can’t be cleared solo, and players will need to manually cast abilities to handle its timing-based mechanics.
Entry is handled through raid keys earned from earlier dungeons. Once inside, groups choose between Normal and Hard mode, then have 15 minutes to make as many attempts as they can. If the team reaches Spectra’s final stretch before the timer runs out, they’re allowed to finish the attempt.
- Normal mode marks two players with Soul Bolts and is pitched as the more approachable version.
- Hard mode marks every player, moves faster, and requires tighter coordination.
- The raid includes 13 Necromancer gear pieces with five variants each, for roughly 65 drops to chase.
- A legendary cape is exclusive to Hard mode.
- Several legendary items and sets have been rebuilt with rewritten effects, including Oathmourne, Ruinchain, Spectra’s Amulet, Ring of Death, Wraith Binding, Revenant Priest, and Necrotic Warrior.
The update also follows a round of technical work aimed at smoothing out Early Access pain points. Spiderware says it rebuilt sprite loading, added an on-disk sprite cache, split large world updates into smaller packets, and capped per-frame work to reduce spikes in crowded areas. Player and NPC loading, mount movement, camera movement, and V-Sync support were also touched during the eight-week patch run.
Spectra is available now in Soulbound: Online’s Early Access version on PC.
