SMITE 2 Adds Chronos In Open Beta 38 Patch Alongside Broad Balance Changes
SMITE 2’s open beta has picked up another playable god with Open Beta 38, and this one’s all about time. Chronos is now in the game, bringing a kit built around scaling power, slows, stuns, and a rewind-style escape when a fight goes sideways.
The patch also makes a wide set of balance changes across the roster. According to the official patch notes, Hi-Rez has adjusted base health for gods across the board, changed protections in a number of places, and reduced health for several minion types.
That should make this update more than just a new character drop. The health and protection changes, combined with item balance tweaks, are likely to affect time-to-kill and how safe players feel in lane or team fights. Minions being easier to clear could also shift pacing, especially in the early game.
Chronos’ kit leans into his theme pretty directly. He gains benefits over time, can lock enemies down by turning a slow into a stun, and has a time rewind tool for repositioning or recovering after taking damage. Players who liked his identity in the original SMITE should recognize the broad idea, though SMITE 2’s ongoing beta balance means numbers and feel may keep shifting.
SMITE 2 remains in open beta, with Hi-Rez continuing to add gods and tune the game through regular updates. The game still hits a daily peak of over 8,000 concurrent users on Steam.
